Another
Home Show has come and gone and as usual it was quite the event!
We spoke to many prospective customers as well as past customers
(who stopped by to tell US how much they enjoy their rooms) and
other sunroom owners (not our customers, I am happy to say) that
were not so lucky!
Over the past 27 years that our company has been in business many
sunroom companies have come and gone - this year is no exception.
several people told us they had booked jobs, paid deposits (up to
$4500.00) and then the company went out of business leaving them
with nothing! There are usually some "Red Flags" to
watch for so you can avoid these pitfalls,
When shopping beware of the "trash talkers" - if they
can't sell, their own product based on its merit - something is
wrong. If they keep pestering you, are they really concerned about
you, or just desperate' for business? Are they being realistic? It
they promise to do the job in two weeks (we historically take 6 to
8 weeks to install), are they short of business (why) or are they
just trying to get your order?
Be cautious about "freebies" or "buy now
promotions" that are designed to force you into a quick
decision. No company will stay in business long by working for
nothing' A 10% deposit should be sufficient unless the company has
to pay for the material up front - but do you want to deal with
someone who can't get credit? Also make sure you see the building
permit for your project - before they start! And remember
warranties are not valid if the company isn't around to honor
them. The old adage holds true - if it sounds too good to be true
- it is!
